How I Will Help
As a Planning and Zoning Commissioner, my goal has always been to listen to our residents and address their needs. I am proud to have contributed to high-impact projects that have benefited our community. Please read below to learn about the priorities I would focus on as a City Council member.
Housing
We need to maintain our appeal as a prime location for new home construction and ensure a variety of housing options. For instance, the Capstone development, Legacy Bay, exemplifies this goal. I have actively participated in revising the neighborhood plan to adapt to market changes and introduce diverse housing options. Saint Michael boasts many excellent neighborhoods, each offering something unique for everyone.
Parks and Other City Amenities
Saint Michael has excelled in developing Town Center Park, a vital community hub. Our investment in parks and trails has been substantial, and I have closely monitored future plans for expanding these amenities. The City Council has consistently prioritized these projects, and I am eager to continue advancing these initiatives. Additionally, our strong partnership with neighboring Albertville, where our high school is located, has allowed us to benefit from amenities like the ice arena. I am committed to nurturing this relationship to ensure continued collaboration between our cities.
Public Safety
Everyone wants a safe place to call home. We have a great partnership with the Wright County Sheriff for policing, and we utilize our own Fire Department. I would want to continue to invest in these resources to create a safe community.
Streets, Trails, and Other Infrastructure
Maintaining our street, sidewalk and infrastructure is crucial. Planning for future growth ensures we are prepared for success. For instance, the ongoing improvements to County Rd 36 are designed to accommodate growth on the western side of Saint Michael. Equally important, though less visible, are city water and sewer systems. We must maintain and plan for these essential services to support future development. I have witnessed cities struggle with water shortages due to inadequate planning when approving large numbers of new homes in a short time.
Fiscal Responsibility
With extensive experience in banking and finance, I am committed to ensuring fiscal responsibility in our city. My focus on budgeting, city spending, and vendor selection will help maintain financial stability.
In my banking career, I have assisted numerous businesses, including some right here in Saint Michael, with various financial matters to support their growth, and I am confident that my expertise will position the city for financial success.
